Inter-Partnership Leadership Academy Conference 29/9/10
The leadership academy hosted at esporta's Devonshire health and racquet club attracted young leaders from around the city of all age groups and abilities. As the sports hall steadily filled up with participants it was clear to see the level of keenness and element of surprise of what the day had in store. Partnership Young ambassadors escorted and marshalled throughout the day both students and staff! From start and were a true credit to their role. The participants were then split into groups each holding a country's flag (following the theme of the 2012 Olympics).Several workshops were set up each focusing on specific leadership tasks that could be incorporated into the young leaders work in there respective schools. The partnership workshops were promoting the ‘yoURsport' framework to build upon which should be available to students through SSCO's and P.E staff. The young leaders had a go at various different tasks and challenges which proved to show the true colours and professionalism of the young participants. Chloe Sumner Plymstock young leader 6th form stated;
‘It was a fantastic opportunity and a good experience .As well as working alongside people who share the same principles, while learning new skills and techniques at a higher level'
Lauren Gale Year 11 student said ‘I really enjoyed the multi skills; it made learning more simple and easy as well as learning from each other rather than teachers'
Furthermore Jacob Roberts 6th form young leader ‘thoroughly enjoyed the shared experience and whole interactive function of the different workshops ‘
As a whole the day ran smoothly with all young leaders demonstrating and justifying their presence to attend. Very big thanks to all staff involved and the Devonshire for their on going hospitality being the host venue for many SSP events.
