Leaping Into Life at Coombe Dean
Children as young as Four were delighted to come to Coombe Dean to take part in the first ever Plymstock Area Academic Council (PAAC) Leap Into life Festival. The children in Foundation and Year 1 from our local Primary Schools took part in a morning of fun activities led, very capably, by our year 8 Young Leaders. The activities were based on the Leap Into Life Scheme: This scheme has been developed for Early Years Education and is designed to develop a childs Physical Literacy. It involves having fun whilst developing their running, jumping, twisting, turning, pushing and pulling skills!
Our Year 8 students did a brilliant job of keeping 60 very excited 4, 5 & 6 year olds busy for two hours! They drew on every bit of their Young Leaders training to ensure all the children experienced a fun, fair and safe session. The Primary Schools staff were impressed with the way our students dealt with the younger children who proved to be quite challenging to organise.
The young children all went back to their School's with smiles on their faces and reward stickers on their chests having had an excellent introduction to Coombe Dean School thanks to our Leaders.
