Girls Football Festival

21st May 10

This Festival has become a firm favourite with both staff and pupils.  The combination of a morning spent working on skills and drills and an afternoon of competition is a very successful one.

This was an inter-family event with girls from the Plymstock and Plympton Family's of Schools working together. The coaching was lead by coaches working for Plymstock Football Development assisted by yr 10 Football Leaders from Plymstock School. Thank you to Chris French for organising this.

One aim of this Festival was to act as transition event, giving the girls the opportunity to meet with girls from other local schools and to help them with the transition from primary to secondary school in September. Whilst initially nervous and shy of each other the teams soon gelled and new friendships were soon made.

By mixing teams the schools which didn't have enough players for a full squad were still able to participate and all involved agreed the format of the event is excellent.

The competition was won by a team calling themselves 'The Champions' - a brilliant bit of positive thinking and show of confidence by the girls (they choose their team name as part of the team building process).

An excellent day helped by the best weather of the year so far!
