Plymstock SSP is one of 9 regional centres of excellence for Girls Active across England. We work in partnership with the YST to promote and provide opportunities for girls to get active in sports and activites across the South West.

'Girls Active is designed to empower teenage girls to enjoy more sporting activity on their own terms, making positive choices and being given a voice. It is also about enabling young people to make a positive contribution to their schools. Girls are challenged to come up with ideas on what they would change in their own schools in order to make sporting activity something they would want to participate in.'

Girls active leadership and coaching funding

As a Partnership we have funding to increase the number of girls that are involved in leadership, coaching and volunteering. If you have any girls that are undergoing coaching courses or would like to get involved but funding is an issue please complete a funding application form and return to Emma Goolden. Leadership Day

Date for your diaries...Friday 22nd October 2010. We are planning a leadership day for all of the young people within Plymouth, supported by the YST and working together with the Sir John Hunt SSP. The aim of the day will be to get as many of our young people qualified as leaders in as many different disciplines as possible with a particular emphasis on girls due to the funding we have available.

Courses on offer so far are in Rowing,  Netball, Table tennis and Tennis. If you would like more information or can offer to run or host a course on that day then please contact Jo Ricks at joricks2001@yahoo.co.uk
